Tyga Helme

Tyga Helme was born in 1990 and studied Fine Art combined with History of Art at Edinburgh College of Art and the University of Edinburgh. Helme later joined The Drawing Year at The Royal Drawing School. She was awarded a full scholarship and was winner of the Machin Foundation Prize.

Tyga is a painter and printmaker with drawing lying at the heart of her practice. She couples the spontaneity and importance of the moment with often returning to places over and over again. She is drawn to complexity and pattern in her subjects, enjoying the tension between abstraction and figuration.
